  1. 5 out of 5

    :

Newton Tracker is really easy to setup and use, and it works without a hitch. Isaac software magically merges the GPS data from my iPhone, and it is really fun to see my GPS and power data together in Google Earth. Now that I have Newton Tracker, I can’t think of any reason to keep my Garmin on the handlebars.

  2. 5 out of 5

    :

Having used a garmin and merging files, which isn’t all that difficult, just a bit time consuming, the Newton Tracker makes things much quicker and easier. I can easily drop into Strava after playing around with the file in Isaac. Its also fun to play around on google earth when I should be doing other things!!! Its even better now that after a trainer session it doesn’t go looking for a gps file! Well worth the addition and I haven’t had any iphone 4S issues with battery life after a 3hr ride

  3. 4 out of 5

    :

Good cost effective addition to get GPS info linked to all the other great iBike data.
Suggest ride file could somehow now be route named so training rides can be easily found to be compared.
Still havnt quite worked out how to drop the file into Strava as instructions wernt that clear.

    :

I really like my iBike Newton and had a Gen 3 unit for some years before. I have always found the ideas behind the products to be excellent. Execution is often lacking. In the case of the Tracker, there are no operating instructions [there are installation instructions], no information about how to use google earth and it would be nice to see numeric values on the plotted course as well. Also the idea that you have to select what you want to see and create a separate window for each item (like power) is not convenient. I would like to see power and heartrate at specific points along the path as an example.

VELOCOMP COMMENT: NT installation and usage instructions are contained in the “Help” menu of Isaac software.

To learn how to use Google Earth visit this link:

    http://www.google.com/earth/learn/

NT instructions show how to display HR and power simultaneously in Google Earth.

    :

Very nice add on. Why not excelent? The GPS chip should be in the Newton. Also I would like to able to download the gps file seperately.
Nevertheless, I am happy with the Tracker!

    :

When you start your ride in the tracker there are instances that for whatever reason it stops by itself and does not record the ride. It happened two times in 6 tries. When it actually works it is nice but, like I said it is unpredictable.

VELOCOMP RESPONSE: Newton Tracker app version 1.1 has been released and should overcome these issues.

    Pretty cool app

    :

This solution is much more convenient than than the old method of recording a ride in a third party GPS app/device, loading the file and manually merging it with the iBike ride file. The main issue I have is the battery life of the iPhone.

  9. 5 out of 5

    :

A great seamless way of obtaining GPS data data and merging it with the power data. The app is very user friendly. A couple of other comments:
1 on several occasions it has taken several attempts to download rides to strava where the ride file is made of up of 2 rides I have combined in Isaac. Strava initially says there is a prefix it does not recognize in the ride file name. On say the third attempt however it then uploads the file. I have no problems however downloading them to golden cheetah
2 though the google earth images are great fun I am not sure how to get any more training knowledge out of them then I get from issac and the none power info in golden cheetah. Tis is not something for ibike but a chapter in hunter alan’s next book?

    :

this product works great. nice add on to the newton. I would have rated a 5 if the gps was integrated into the newton.

    :

This was the last piece to the puzzle…I no longer need a GPS. Bike computer, in fact I already sold it! Ibike Newton now has everything! The tracker is easy to use and you don’t have to do anything to upload it…it does it automatically. Just remember to turn it on before you go for a ride!

    :

this is a great app: Simply works, simply! Press start, and end and when you can it will upload and then the software downloads it and all with little or no user interventions, it is very easy. Great way to get GPS for your Newton Power meter! I want to give it 4.5 stars because nothing is perfect, but this is a really good app.

    :

E’ un prodotto valido che mi consente di visualizzare i dati di potenza e gps insieme su STRAVA,sono contento di averlo comprato.

VELOCOMP: Here is the Google Translate version of the review. “It’s a good product that allows me to view the performance data and GPS together on Strava. I’m glad I bought it.”

    :

This app allows me to upload the file to my indoor trainer and ride the course when weather does not allow me train outdoors. I also like the fact that I can see visually where on the course I achieved my highest wattage.Highly recommended!

    :

I’m very happy with the tracker feature. I prefer it over the Strava app.

  16. 5 out of 5

    :

With Strava becoming bigger in the cycling community we get 2 advantages with this upgrade unlock package. we get to see on a map how the power looks like on the different terrains and parts of the ride. we also get to save and input the data onto the strava site with more information then the normal strava user. I can with Strava Premium, I could ride though segments see the power out put then compare plan and attempt segments over and over again with individualized power out put measurements on each attempt. its a great addition to the Ibike.

    :

A very good feature to add to your Newton +. I like downloading and analyzing certain features using google maps.
The fact that you can color code power to compare efforts within a ride or to determine if a section was as windy as you thought it had to be is good. I haven’t quite figured out the graph height feature yet though.
Take notice that if you start tracker and don’t leave for your ride within a defined time (I still don’t know how long) or if you spend too much time at a SAG or coffee shop that the Tracker will pause and not record once you continue your ride. All you have to do is reopen the app before starting (again) and it will resume recording. I learned this through trial and error by not having some rides record.
It is a bit pricey, but for me worth it.

This is a great little toy. well worth the small cost just to complete the gps experience.

    :

I’ve just bought the Newton 5 along with power stroke and Newton tracker, purely to just compare along with my DFPM. I have been so impressed I’ve now sold my DFPM.
The Newron tracker is awesome and although I can use it to profile my training it’s so cool to watch load up, but that’s the child in me.

Thank you guys & girls at I-Bike sports.
